the Ist International E. R. Bliznyuk Piano Competition.

  1. General Conditions

The Ist InternationalPianoCompetition (hereinafter referred to as the Competition) shall be conducted by the Piano Department of the M. I. Glinka Novosibirsk State Conservatory (hereinafter referred to as the Conservatory).

The Competition is held in spring once every two years.

The aim of the Competition is to enhance the development and refinement of the piano course for students of different specialties.

The Competition is designed to:

– encourage young musicians’ interest in piano course;

– support professional and artistic education of creative youth;

– develop musical and pedagogical traditions of the national piano school;

– refine teaching skills of professors and professional level of young specialists;

– promote artistic collaboration among art and culture institutions.

The Competition is meant to bring about the consolidation of artistic collaboration among the Conservatory and children’s music and art schools, colleges and higher educational institutions, and also to forge professional contacts with piano teachers.

The Competition is held among:

1) 4th – 8thgradestudentsof children’s music and art schools, 4th – 6th grade students of special music schools;

2) 7th -10thgrade students of special music schools, students of colleges and higher educational institutions whose special instrument is not piano. 

  1. Order of the Competition

The first (elimination) round isheldin releasing educational organizations.Second round auditionsareheld int he Small Concert Hall of the Novosibirsk State Conservatory (live) or via video recordings.

The Competition will be held in two formats:

live competition;

extramural competition via video-recordings.

Program requirements for participants of both formats are identical. Videos for each round must be recorded on one video camera from the same point so that one could see the participant(s) at full height and in full view, without any montage. Video files can be divided by compositions. Video files must be named in the following order: the participant’s name and surname, their age group, category, for example: Mary Smith, 1 group, ‘Piano Solo’. The recordings must be uploaded on YouTube/ RuTube, links to videos must be sent to konkurs@nsglinka.ru before 1 March, 2023. Each participant bears responsibility for the availability of their link. Those participants who have sent the videos after the given date, or whose links are not working, will not be judged by the jury.

 

The Competition is heldin four age groups:

1 group: 4th – 6th grade students of children’s music and art schools, special music schools;

2 group:7th – 8th grade students of children’s music and art schools;

3 group: 7th – 10th grade students of special music schools, college students whose special instrument is not piano;

4 group:studentsofhighereducationalinstitutions, including postgraduates, whose special instrument is not piano.

 

In each age group there are the following categories:

  1. «Piano Solo» (for all age groups);
  2. «Piano Ensemble» (for 2, 3, 4 age groups);
  3. «Instrumental Ensemble» (for 3, 4 age groups);
  4. «Vocal Accompaniment» (for 3, 4 age groups);

One participant can take part in several categories.

 

The order of the performing in the Competition is determined by drawing lots in each category and age group. All the auditions are open to public. Participants can perform their compositions in any order.

If a participant is late, they might be allowed to take the audition by the jury’s decision. 

  1. Program Requirements

1-2 groups:

Two varied pieces of any style orgenre (except jazz compositions). Time limit – 5-8 minutes.

3 group:

Two varied pieces of any style or genre (except jazz compositions). Time limit – 8-10 minutes.

4 group:

Free program (canconsistofonegrandpieceorseveralvariedpieces, partsofacycle, preferablyindifferentstylesandgenres, exceptjazzcompositions). Timelimit – 10-12 minutes.

For3, 4 groups in «Vocal Accompaniment»category:

Tworomances, oneofwhichisbyaRussianorSoviet composer.

Time limit – no more than 8 minutes.

Works in «Piano Solo» category are performed by heart; in «Piano Ensemble» category it is allowed to perform reading notes. Only contestants of the same age group take part in the piano ensemble.

In «Piano Solo» category it is not allowed to:

‒ perform a concerto (or one of its movements) for piano and orchestra;

‒ performfour-handpianopiecesontwograndpianos.

The program of participants of 3 and 4 groups may include one work of their own composition, lasting no more than four minutes.

Changes in the declared program are not allowed. The organizing committee of the Competition has the right to reject an application that does not comply with this Provision before the start of auditions, having informed the contestant.

Competitors are provided with rehearsal classes and time for acoustic rehearsal in the Small Hall.

The Organizing Committee reserves the right to make audio and video recordings of works and use them for non-commercial purposes, including for demonstration purposes. 

  1. Prizes and Awards

The performances of the participants of the Competition are evaluated by the jury, approved by the order of the rector of the Conservatory. The jury’s decisions are final and not subject to reconsideration.

The jury reserves the right:

‒ not to award all the prizes;

‒ to award special prizes and diplomas;

‒ to share one award among several performers;

‒ interrupt the performance of the participants in case of non-compliance with the time limit of the competition.

The winners of the competition, who took I, II, III places in each category, are awarded the title of laureate with a diploma. Competitors who took IV place — the title of diploma winner of the competition with a diploma. The rest of the contestants are awarded with certificates for participation. Teachers who have prepared laureates and diploma winners are awarded with letters of gratitude.

The results of the correspondence competition will be published on the official website of the conservatory www.nsglinka.ru on the competition page no later than March 31, 2023. The distribution of award documents in electronic form will be carried out until April 14, 2023 (inclusive).

  1. Competition Conditions

To participate in the competition, you must submit an application according to the attached sample before March 1, 2023. Applications are accepted by postal address: 630099, Novosibirsk, 31, Sovetskaya St., office 114 or to email: konkurs@nsglinka.ru (in two copies – a scan of their application sealed by the Head of the Organisation and a Word document).

An organizational fee of 2500 (two thousand five hundred) rubles is established for the participants of the Сompetition. If a contestant participates in two categories, the entrance fee is 2000 (two thousand) rubles for each nomination.

In case of refusal to participate in the Competition, the paid fee is non-refundable.

The fee should be paid either in cash when arriving at the Competition, or through the banking details provided at the website www.nsglinka.ru in the section “Contacts” – “Banking Details”. Thepaymentmustbeconfirmedwithalettersenttokonkurs@nsglinka.ru.

In case of non-cash payment the documents for drawing a contract must be sent tokonkurs@nsglinka.ruwith the title “Payment through a contract”before 1 March, 2023.
