International Conference «Beethoven’s Musical Epoch and its Historical Resonance»

INFORMATIONAL LETTER
Dear colleagues!
On 7-8 December, 2020
The M.I. Glinka Novosibirsk State Conservatoire holds
the International Conference
«Beethoven’s Musical Epoch and its Historical Resonance»
within the framework of the Project celebrating the 250th birthday anniversary of the composer

One of this year’s most widely celebrated jubilees is the 250th birthday anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven. Concerts and special events, exhibitions and projects, symposiums and scientific conferences allow all those who admire the genius to turn to his legacy again and again grasping the phenomenon of his personality as it has become the symbol of unity, spirit, inspiration, and pantheistic understanding of nature.

This ever-growing interest in the composer’s creative works lies in discovering their new edges and possibilities which remain topical in the current situation when all cultures strive to be open, encompassing, transformative, breaking the mold. On the other hand, Beethoven’s works have the appeal of the quintessence of classical features of art. They display an array of forms of academic Western European traditions which are stable though full of impulse.

The scientific conference gives an opportunity to further study Beethoven’s compositions written in all the genres existing in his day. It enables one to contemplate about the fate of European symphonic style in which Beethoven played one of the key roles having influenced the future generations of composers, and discuss the artistic perspective of the genius’ epoch.

The conference agenda includes a number of questions related to studying the composer’s legacy, various forms of reflection of his works in compositions of masters and Romantic composers of XX-XXI centuries, such as “Beethoven and his time”, “Beethoven and Romanticists: common features and differences”, “Beethoven’s contribution into modern academic and mass music” and others.

We invite students, postgraduates, PhD students of music and art higher educational establishments, musicologists, composers, performers, scientific and research institutes workers to participate in the conference.

Selected articles will be published in the scientific periodical of the Novosibirsk Conservatoire “JOURNAL OF MUSICAL SCIENCE” which is included in the list of the Higher Attestation Commission.
