GENERAL CONDITIONS

 

The Ist L. V. Myasnikova International Vocal Competition (hereinafter referred to as the Competition) shall be organized and held by the M. I. Glinka Novosibirsk State Conservatoire (hereinafter referred to as the Conservatoire).

The Competition is held every three years and is aimed at developing the traditions of vocal art, finding and supporting gifted young academic singers.

The Competition is intended to help:

— perfect the execution of soloists and vocal ensembles;

— advance the qualification level of vocal teachers at educational institutions of culture and art;

— strengthen creative ties between the Conservatoire professional educational institutions of culture and art.

 

COMPETITION CONDITIONS

 

The Competition is held among the students, graduates and teachers of children’s music and art schools, vocal studios, students of music colleges, culture and art colleges, music and theatre institutes majoring in academic singing.

The participant should choose a category appropriate for their age on the date of the Competition. The order in which the participants will perform is determined by drawing lots and shall remain the same until the end of auditions.

The Competition consists of one round for the I and V categories, two rounds for the II and IV categories, and three rounds for the III category. Only those participants who have scored no less than 19 points at the 25-pointed estimate system will be admitted to the second round.

Those wishing to compete must submit their applications (see an Application form below) before 20 October, 2020. Applicants should also attach a scan of a document confirming their age. Regardless of the way of submitting the original application form, it is obligatory to have an electronic Word document filled. There can be no changes in the program after 20 October, 2020.

The first round in the III category is held via video recordings.  It is obligatory for the participants of the III category to download the video recording of the first round program onto YouTube and send a link to it as well as the confirmation of the entrance fee payment to rmc-nsglinka@yandex.ru before 15 November, 2020. The results of this round will be sent to the participants’ e-mails before 20 November, 2020.

It is obligatory for the participants of the III category (III round) and IV category (II round) to perform a piece from L. V. Myasnikova’s repertoire.

A participant can have a rehearsal with a standby accompanist (up to 10 minutes) before the first round (for the III category participants – before the second round) if needed. If you need a standby accompanist for one rehearsal and performance, you should mention that in your application form.

 

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

 

The Competition has the following categories:

 

The I categorystudents of children’s music and art schools, children’s culture and art centres, vocal studios (one round):

 

— group А: 8–10 year olds:

Program: any two varied compositions from the academic vocal repertoire up to the participant’s choice (total timing – no more than 8 minutes);

 

— group В: 11–13 year olds:

Program: two varied compositions from the academic vocal repertoire up to the participant’s choice (total timing – no more than 10 minutes):

  1. A composition by a Western European composer;
  2. A composition by a Russian composer.

 

— group С: 14–16 year olds:

Program: two compositions from the academic vocal repertoire up to the participant’s choice (total timing – no more than 10 minutes):

  1. An aria;
  2. A romance or a song.

 

The II category – students of music colleges, colleges of culture and art majoring in academic singing (two rounds):

— group А: 1–2 years;

— group В: 3–4 years.

Program:

I round (no more than 12 minutes):

  1. An aria by a Western European composer of the XVII-XVIII centuries;
  2. A folk song.

II round (no more than 12 minutes):

  1. An aria from an opera by a XIX-XX centuries composer;
  2. A romance by a Russian composer.

 

The III categorystudents of music and theatre institutes (three rounds):

 

Program:

I round* (no more than 15 minutes):

  1. An old aria from an opera or an oratorio, or a concert aria by a Western European composer of the XVII-XVIII centuries;
  2. A folk song.

 

* The I round for participants of the III category is held in absentia via video recordings.

 

II round (no more than 15 minutes):

  1. An aria from an opera by a Western European composer of the XIX-XX centuries;
  2. An aria from an opera by a Russian composer of the XIX-XX centuries.

 

III round* (no more than 15 minutes):

  1. A romance by a Russian composer;
  2. A romance by a Western European composer;
  3. An aria up to the participant’s choice.

 

* It is obligatory for the participants of the III category (III round) to perform a piece from L. V. Myasnikova’s repertoire. The list of repertoire is attached below.

 

The IV category – professional performers, academic vocal teachers at schools, professional educational institutions and higher educational institutions (two rounds):

 

Program:

I round (no more than 15 minutes):

  1. An old aria of the XVII-XVIII centuries;
  2. A Russian romance;
  3. A folk song.

II round* (no more than 15 minutes):

  1. An aria by a Russian composer of the XIX-XX centuries;
  2. An aria by a Western European composer of the XIX-XX centuries;
  3. Произведение по выбору участника.

* It is obligatory for the participants of the IV category (II round) to perform a piece from L. V. Myasnikova’s repertoire. The list of repertoire is attached below.

The V category – vocal ensembles (duets, trios, quartets) (one round):

 

— group А: students of children’s music and art schools, children’s culture and art centres, vocal studios (no more than 8 minutes);

— group B: students of music colleges, colleges of culture and art (no more than 12 minutes);

— group С: students of higher educational institutions (no more than 15 minutes);

— group D: teachers at schools, colleges and higher educational institutions (no more than 20 minutes).

 

Program: two varied pieces performed by a single group.

 

FINANCIAL TERMS

 

The entrance fee is:

4000 roubles from a single participant of the I-IV categories;

5000 roubles from a duet;

6000 roubles from a trio;

8000 roubles from a quartet.

The fee should be paid either in cash when arriving at the Competition, or through the banking details provided at the website www.nsglinka.ru in the section “General Information” – “Structure of the Conservatoire” – “Banking Details”. In case of paying through bank details documents appropriate for drawing a contract are accepted no later than 10 days before the start of the Competition.

Travelling, food and accommodation expanses of the participants and those accompanying them shall be covered by themselves or by the organisations sending them.

RESULTS,

JURY AND ORGANIZING COMMITTEE’S RIGHTS

 

The Jury shall award a laureate or a diploma winner degree to worthy participants. The Jury has the right not to award all the diplomas, share one place among several participants, award the Grand Prix, special diplomas, prizes, “Best Accompanist” diploma, award the teachers and accompanists for preparing the laureates and diploma winners of the Competition. The Jury can decide to award prizes for the best performance of an obligatory piece from L. V. Myasnikova’s repertoire and other awards. The decision of the Jury is final and is not subject to reconsideration.

The Organizing Committee reserves all the rights on audio- and video recording of the participants’ performances and also on using these recordings for advertising, informational, and teaching purposes. The right to decide over any matters of dispute belongs to the Chairperson of the Organizing Committee.

Russia – Japan – China – the Republic of Korea: History, Theory, Practice and Modern Prospects of Cultural Cooperation

Dear colleagues and partners!
In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the International Conference “Russia – Japan – China – the Republic of Korea: History, Theory, Practice and Modern Prospects of Cultural Cooperation” within the International Crossover Festival “Musical Comrades” is postponed until the epidemiological situation in Russia and in the world is stable. You can still submit your applications; we will announce the time and date of the conference and festival further on. Please, follow the news on our website!

Peoples of Russia, Japan, China and Korea have always made twinning of their cities and towns one of the priorities in their relations. Consequently, they have implemented a number of valuable and unique forms of cultural cooperation to strengthen good neighbour relations.  The Crossover Festival “Musical Comrades” will be marked by the 30th anniversary of twinning Novosibirsk and Sapporo, and it will be held in anticipation of the jubilees of twinning with Daejeon (2021) and Shenyang (2023). The Festival includes official, artistic, educational and scientific parts.

We invite college and university teachers and students, postgraduates, PhD students, scientific and research institutes workers, staff members of museums, archives, representatives of municipalities, cultural and educational centres, concert organisations to participate in the International Conference “Russia – Japan – China – the Republic of Korea: History, Theory, Practice and Modern Prospects of Cultural Cooperation”.

The conference is devoted to thorough understanding of the achievements of Russian oriental studies, analysis of steps taken together by notable figures of the four countries in the art sphere throughout historical evolvement.

Conference schedule:

23 June 10.00 — 16.00 – Section “Russia-Japan: 30th anniversary of twinning Novosibirsk and Sapporo”

24 June 10.00-12.30 – Section “Russia-China: in anticipation of the jubilee of twinning Novosibirsk and Shenyang”

24 June 13.00-15.30 – Section “Russia-the Republic of Korea: in anticipation of the jubilee of twinning Novosibirsk and Daejeon”.

Time limit is up to 15 minutes.

Selected articles will be published in the scientific journal of the Novosibirsk Conservatoire “Vestnik muzykalnoy nauki” (“Herald of the Musical Science”) which is about to enter the International scientific database Web of Science. The «West — Siberia — East» competition is postponed

 

The E. M. Zinger 1st International Piano Competition, also known as a part of The «West — Siberia — East» competition, is postponed to the fall of 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

We announce that the I International Competition «West — Siberia — East»: Е. М. Zinger Piano Competition is rescheduled for autumn 2020 in accordance with the Order of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation № 357 of 16.03.2020 «About the functioning of organisations administered by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation in circumstances of danger of spreading of new coronavirus infection (2019-nCoV) on the territory of the Russian Federation» and the Order issued by the acting rector of the Conservatoire № 23-од of 17.03.2020 «About the coronavirus infection (COVID-19) spread control».

All the applications shall remain relevant up to the end of the Competition disregarding any changes of its dates. Age groups division shall remain the same as it has been on 24 March, 2020. Those participants who will fall into a next age group by autumn 2020 can change their age group only by their own volition. In such case they have to inform the Organizing Committee about their decision and the changes in their program in accordance with the requirements before 1 September, 2020. The participants wishing to remain in their current age group can also change their program assuming they have informed the Organizing Committee before 1 September, 2020. Each applicant of the Competition can change their program in accordance with the requirements set to their age group assuming they have informed the Organizing Committee before 1 September, 2020.

If anyone wishes not to participate in the Competition, they should withdraw their application by contacting the Organizing Committee before 1 September, 2020. It is not allowed to replace one participant with the other. We will announce further submit of applications for the I International Competition «West — Siberia — East»: Е. М. Provision for holding the I International Competition «West — Siberia — East»:
E.M. Zinger International Piano Competition

  1. General Conditions

The Founder and Organizer of the I International Competition «West — Siberia — East»: Piano Competition named after Е. М. Zinger (hereinafter referred to as the Competition) shall be M. I. Glinka Novosibirsk State Conservatoire (hereinafter referred to as the Conservatoire).

The Competition is aimed at finding and creatively developing gifted performers, encouraging an amelioration of the quality of teaching in piano classes at children’s music and art schools, and music colleges, as well as ensuring the strengthening of bounds between the institutions of primary and secondary music education and the Conservatoire.

  1. Competition Conditions

2.1. The Competition is held among the students of children’s music and art schools, students and graduates of art colleges, teachers of children’s music and art schools, art colleges and higher educational institutions in the following age groups:

I group 10 year olds and younger
II group 11 — 14 year olds
III group 15 — 18 year olds
IV group 19  — 22 year olds
V group 23  — 35 year olds

2.2. Auditions for the Competition consist of one round for the I and II groups, two rounds for the III and IV groups, and three rounds for the V age group.

2.3. No more than a half of the participants of the first round who have got no less than 18 points at the 25-pointed estimate system will be admitted to the second round from the III and IV age groups. No more than four participants from the V age group who have scored most at the 25-pointed estimate system will be admitted to the third round.

2.4. The order of the performing in the Competition is determined by drawing lots in each age group and shall remain unchanged until the end of the Competition. Each participant will be provided with the opportunity of the acoustic rehearsal (no more than 15 min) before each round.

2.5. The Organizing Committee reserves all the rights on audio- and video recording of the participants’ performances and also on using these recordings for advertising, informational, and teaching purposes without paying any extra fees to the participants.

2.6. Program requirements are attached. All the pieces are to be performed from memory.

  1. Period and Order of the Competition

3.1. The Competition will be held at the Conservatoire from March 24 to March 31, 2020.

3.2. The applications are accepted until February 1, 2020 at the following post address: 630099, Novosibirsk city, 31 Sovetskaya street, office 105, or at the following e-mail address (an applicant should send a scan of their application sealed by the Head of the Organisation and a Word document): rmc-nsglinka@yandex.ru. 3.3. Applications submitted after the stated date shall not be considered. The Organizing Committee has the right to enhance the period of taking the applications. Programs which exceed the stated timing shall not be accepted for the Competition.

3.4. Order of the Competition in 2020:

March, 24 — arrival of the participants, opening of the Competition, drawing lots;

March, 25 — 1 round, audition for the participants of the V and IV age groups;

March, 26 — audition for the participants of the I age group and 1 round of the III age group;

March, 27 — audition for the participants of the II age group;

March, 28 — 2 round, audition for the participants of the V and IV age groups;

March, 29 — 2 round, audition for the participants of the III age group;

March, 30 — 3 round, audition for the participants of the V age group;

March, 31 — closing of the Competition, gala-concert of the laureates.

Dates of auditions in different age groups are liable to changes due to the number of received applications.

  1. Financial Terms

4.1. The entrance fee is 4000 rubles for each participant. It should be paid either in cash when arriving at the Competition, or through the banking details provided at the website www.nsglinka.ru in the section “General Information” – “Structure of the Conservatoire” – “Banking Details”.

4.2. In case of paying through bank details documents appropriate for drawing a contract are accepted no later than 10 days before the start of the Competition.

4.3. Travelling, food and accommodation expanses of the participants and those accompanying them shall be covered by themselves or by the organisations sending them.

  1. Prizes and awards

5.1. Participants who will get the 1, 2 and 3 places in each age group will become the laureates of the Competition of the 1, 2 and 3 degree accordingly.

5.2. Participants who will get next three places according to the number of their points will become the diploma winners.

5.3. The Jury shall vote openly at the end of the 2 round in III, IV age groups and at the end of the 3 round in the V age group.

5.4. The laureate of the I degree in the III, IV or V age groups who has scored more points than any other participant of the same age group and who permanently lives in Novosibirsk oblast may be recommended by the Jury to become a candidate for receiving the award in the sphere of “Support for the gifted youth” in the national project “Education”.

5.5. The winner of the Grand Prix of the Competition has an opportunity to perform a solo program or with one the Conservatoire student symphony orchestras in the following concert season.

5.6. The Jury has the right:

‒ not to award all the prizes and diplomas;

‒ share one prize among several participants;

‒ award the teachers for preparing the laureates of the Competition;

‒ establish special prizes and awards;

‒ award the Grand Prix (one for all the participants of the age groups).

The decision of the Jury is final and is not subject to reconsideration. 

After all the auditions there will be a closing concert in which all the winners of the Competition will take part.

  2. Two virtuoso etudes (А. Lemoine, C. Czerny-Germer, L. Schytte, А. Loschhorn and others.)
  3. A piece by a Russian or a Western European composer of the XIX-XX centuries up to the participant’s choice.

II age group

(15-20 minutes)

  1. S. Bach – Triple invention or one of the preludes and fugues from the Well-Tempered Clavier.
  2. Classical sonata allegro (J. Haydn, W. Mozart, L. Beethoven).
  3. Etude (М. Moshkovsky, А. Arensky, S. Rakhmaninov, F. Liszt, F. Chopin).
  4. Extensive piece by a Russian or a Western European composer of the XIX-XX centuries.

III age group

1 round (up to 20 minutes)

  1. Prelude and fugue by J. S. Bach from the Well-Tempered Clavier or by one of the Russian composers (S. Taneev, D. Shostakovich, R. Shchedrin).
  2. Classical sonata allegro (J. Haydn, W. Mozart, L. Beethoven, F. Schubert).
  3. Two concert etudes.

2 round (up to 20 minutes)

  1. Virtuoso piece.
  2. Cantilena piece.
  3. A piece by a Western European romantic composer (F. Schubert, F. Mendelssohn, R. Schuman, F. Chopin, J. Brahms) or a Russian composer of the XIX-XX centuries.

IV age group

1 round (up to 30 minutes)

  1. Two pieces of different character from partitas, suites (English, French) by J. S. Bach or a prelude and fugue from the Well-Tempered Clavier.
  2. Virtuoso etude (F. Chopin, F. Liszt, C. Debussy, S. Lyapunov, S. Rakhmaninov, S. Prokofiev, A. Rubinstein, A. Skryabin, D. Ligeti).
  3. An extensive opus up to the participant’s choice or the first part of a classical sonata (sonata Allegro) J. Haydn, W. Mozart, L. Beethoven.
  4. Virtuoso opus.

2 round (up to 30 minutes)

A grand form up to the participant’s choice.

V age group

1 round (up to 30 minutes)

  1. Polyphony by a Russian composer (S. Taneev, P. Tchaikovsky, D. Shostakovich, R. Shchedrin, V. Zaderatsky).
  2. Two virtuoso etudes (one by F. Chopin, another should be chosen by the participant from the following list: F. Liszt, C. Debussy, S. Lyapunov, S. Rakhmaninov, S. Prokofiev, A. Skryabin, D. Ligeti).
  3. An opus up to the participant’s choice.

2 round (up to 40 minutes)

The concertos will be performed with one of the student symphony orchestras of the Conservatoire.

International Summer Musical Academy

Summer Musical Academy will take place at the Novosibirsk Conservatory from 1st to 14th of August 2019!

Best professors of Russia will give classes in piano, organ, harpsichord, vocal, violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, trumpet, French horn, trombone, saxophone, and percussions, as well as an express course of the Russian language (for foreign citizens), theory of music and solfeggio lessons.

Tuition fees (in roubles):

— for foreign citizens – 125 thousand roubles;

— for the citizens of Kazakhstan, Belarus and Russia – 90 thousand roubles.

Tuition fees include: transfer from the airport and back, accommodation, three meals a day, Academy training, assistance and support from a team of tutors and volunteers, entertaining leisure activities.

We invite to the Summer Academy those who are over 18 (without escort) and with any level of training.

At the end of the course graduates of the Academy will have a grand concert where every participant will get awarded with a certificate of completion of studies.
